New water jets have been installed on the western side of the facility. High pressure nozzles spray recycling water generating artificial rain and mist. Due to the additional units, all the beach perimeter is continuously maintained in a wet condition which allows dust in the air to be minimized, particularly, in dry and windy weather.
The project cost exceeded 160M tenge. The operating system has already proved to be efficient - there has been no dust limit exceedance recorded on the sanitary protection zone border since the project was launched. Experts note that the water used for dust suppression is recycled - it is taken from an existing pond, and after spraying it evaporates completely.
At the same time, the TSF oxidation pond is cleared of sludge using an electric dredger with a pump unit.
Kazzinc keeps specially focused at the TSF safety. Buttressing of the tailings dam significantly increased its seismic stability. On the top of that Kazzinc jointly with the professional rescue teams work with the communities to raise their awareness. Residents of the nearby communities are given the lifesaving behaviors in case of an emergency in a form of leaflets and video shorts.
