Application

- They add selenium in the bulk glass to decolorize the glass and remove the greenish hue caused by iron compounds. To make ruby glass, selenium and cadmium compound is used. The ruby stars of the Moscow Kremlin are colored by selenium.
- TV-sets
- Selenium is used in photocells and alternating current rectifiers, due to its asymetric conductivity, it is capable of controlling the alternating current.
- copy machines
- Selenium drums are the key components of copy machines. When exposed to light, they start producing electricity and acquire a positive charge. The image is reflected, projected onto the drum and a copy is made.
