On November 10, 2020, a test laboratory was opened in the Medical Center in Ust-Kamenogorsk to perform COVID-19 PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests. The largest mining and metallurgical company in the region donated over KZT42M to open this fully equipped PCR test laboratory. The deliveries included over 30 units of the advanced biomedical test equipment and furniture.
PCR is one of the most effective COVID-19 diagnostic methods. The new laboratory will considerably reduce the burden on the other PCR test labs in Ust-Kamenogorsk and expedite COVID-19 testing.
