In Ust-Kamenogorsk, the winners of the ‘Izgi Zhurek’ (Kind heart) Prize, established by Kazzinc four years ago, were awarded. Award winners are East-Kazakhstan citizens who risked their lives saving other people during the year. The nominees are elected by popular vote. During the selection stage social media users proposed many candidates from the East Kazakhstan region. The top three were determined through voting on izgi-zhurek.kz. The voting lasted for three weeks, and more than 10 thousand people took part in choosing the best ones. The Prize winners received coveted awards and cash prizes on the big stage at the event dedicated to Metallurgist’s Day in Ust-Kamenogorsk. National Heroes are: Dauren Dzhambayev, who received the majority votes. The man rescued two people from the fire. Young Ust-Kamenogorsk resident, Viktor Zemlyanukhin, saved a girl who almost drowned in the river. Police officers, Mirat Idanov and Bekzhan Altynkan, rescued a drowning man from the river. Prizes were presented to the heroes by the Olympic champion Olga Rypakova.
