During the ceremony Kazzinc granted awards to the top men of courage living in East Kazakhstan. The “Izgi Zhurek” award was established by the company in 2018 to recognize brave deeds accomplished by residents of East Kazakhstan who risked their own lives in rescuing lives of others. A vote for the top three was held on a special website for four weeks.

The winners were presented statuettes and monetary awards (1 million tenge) on the big stage of Boris Alexandrov’s Sports Palace.

“Izgi Zhurek” was awarded to Andrey Smolnikov. This man entered a burning house to rescue a woman and two children.

The second award winner was Denis Shemet, a military man. He covered a trooper to protect him from a live grenade that accidentally exploded during exercises. The officer got multiple shrapnel wounds.

Another Izgi Zhurek statuette was presented to Yelaman Nukushev. This employee of Emergency Department rescued a 13-year-old teenager who was drowning in the Bukhtarma Reservoir.

The heroes were presented their awards by Olga Rypakova, a famous athlete and an Olympic Champion.
