A dialogue platform was held in Ust-Kamenogorsk under the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken" regarding the opportunities for procurement by the largest producing company in the region from local businesses. Kazzinc presented its 2023 procurement plans and needs to its potential and active partners. Small and medium-sized businesses of the region in their turn presented their goods and services to Kazzinc and asked their questions about potential partnership. This dialogue platform was a part of Kazzinc’s program for support of small and medium-sized businesses and its intent was to raise the economic potential of single-industry townships. This event became a logical sequel of “Seriktes” - a large scale contest of business-projects held by Kazzinc in September 2022. The main objective of this program is to look for new areas of import substitution and to build a grid of small and medium-sized businesses around the largest mining and metallurgical company of East-Kazakhstan Region. The “Seriktes” contest became very popular among local businesses. Over the 5 months period 130 applications have been processed and agreements have been signed with local businesses for the total value of 92.2 billion tenge. Agreements with 13 companies were targeted at import substitution.
