Kazzinc continues reinforcing the dam and installation of the tailings dam beach irrigation system at Altay Mining and Concentrating Complex.
The Project is of high importance for adjacent communities’ safety. The irrigation system addresses the main issue - dusting of the tailings dam area. The system builds a water curtain along the perimeter made of numerous water bubbles, i.e., a barrier against dust.
In 2021 Kazzinc extended the TSF beach irrigation area. New spray-type irrigators and water jets will be installed soon on the west side in addition to the existing active system on the north and south sides. Water for spraying is pumped from the pond and evaporates during irrigation.
The new system installation on the west side will be completed by the end of the year. And next season it will start operating.
